A trend on TikTok has seen young single women using their phones to document their trips to home improvement stores like Home Depot, in hopes of finding a husband rather than just using dating apps like Bumble and Tinder.
In March 2021, TikTok user Megan Louise posted a video in which she stated that she had recently met three potential partners while shopping at a Home Depot store. She stated in the video that Home Depot is a good place to meet men.
Megan Louise later revealed that the three men she met at Home Depot were likely already married, however her point still stands that Home Depot is a place where men, both single and in a relationship, are likely to be found. This trend of using Home Depot as a place to meet men started around two years ago and has been gaining popularity since then, according to Business Insider.
It's uncertain who first proposed this idea, but the suggestion of finding a husband at Home Depot quickly spread on TikTok, leading to the creation of several video categories, such as "homedepot finding a husband" with more than 3.5 billion views. This category includes multiple videos of single women who are optimistic about the prospect of meeting someone in a traditional way at Home Depot.

Many of the videos appear to be intended as a joke, particularly those featuring women asking store employees to direct them to the "husband aisle." However, the underlying concept implies that some women may be opting to meet men in person instead of using dating apps, which aligns with recent reports of a decrease in dating app usage.
