Dog owners across the United States and Canada are being urged to check their pet food after Fromm Family Foods recalled thousands of canned wet dog-food products over potential metal contamination. The company said it received complaints about the issue and initiated a voluntary recall.
The recall covers 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet Dog Food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo’s Meatloaf Pâté Wet Dog Food. Together, the action affects 5,825 cases that were distributed through neighborhood pet stores and online retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
No illnesses or injuries connected to the recalled food had been reported as of the company’s announcement. Still, dogs that ingest metal can face serious health risks, including choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy and stomach discomfort.

Sharp metal fragments can cut a dog’s mouth or gastrointestinal tract. Larger amounts could also cause gastrointestinal upset, a partial blockage or an intestinal obstruction that may require urgent veterinary care.
The affected Fromm Turkey Pâté comes in 12.2-ounce cans with UPC 072705118700 and lot code EP2A3306 551006. The affected cans carry a best-by date of March 2029, shown as 032029 on the packaging.
The recalled Fromm Diner Classics Milo’s Meatloaf Pâté comes in 12.5-ounce cans with UPC 072705132324 and lot code EP2A3306 551029. It also carries the best-by date 032029.
Fromm said it identified the error behind the contamination concern and took corrective action to prevent it from happening again. The company did not provide further details, and no other Fromm products are included in this recall.
Owners should stop feeding the recalled food to their dogs and return unused cans to the retailer where they were purchased. Anyone whose dog ate the affected product and is showing symptoms should contact a veterinarian.
