Costco has raised prices on its exclusive Kirkland brand motor oil. The retail giant is now limiting weekly customer purchases amid surging global oil costs.
A ten-quart case of Kirkland Signature full synthetic motor oil now costs $58 on Costco’s website. That product previously sold for roughly $30 to $35 for much of the past several years.
Shoppers face a strict purchase limit of two cases per week. The restriction is clearly marked on the product page.
Costco is also restricting purchases of Mobil 1 full-synthetic motor oil. The one-quart six-pack lists for about $44 and is capped at five per membership.

Synthetic motor oil relies heavily on Group III base oils produced by refining crude oil. Industry analysts note that a major share of these base oils comes from the Persian Gulf. Regional conflict has severely tightened availability and disrupted supply chains.
Brent crude oil prices surged past $109 per barrel on Monday morning. Ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt global petroleum shipments.
Benchmark Brent prices sat below $72 in early July. Uncertainty over normal shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz drove the sharp increase.
Soaring crude prices have driven up fuel costs across the country. AAA data shows the national average for regular gasoline has climbed to nearly $4.32 per gallon. That figure is up from $4.08 a month ago and $3.18 a year ago.
American diesel prices broke records on Friday by averaging over $6 per gallon. Costs continued climbing on Monday to reach a national average of $6.23 per gallon. That represents a sharp jump from $5.90 just one week prior.
Retail prices for diesel and regular gasoline consistently track broader crude oil market trends.
It remains unclear if competing retailers will follow suit. Major competitors like Walmart, Amazon, and AutoZone have not yet announced similar price hikes or purchase caps.
