A Colorado squirrel was tested for bubonic plague and it came back positive according to Jefferson County health official. 2020 isn't done yet.
Jefferson County health officials released a statement on Sunday that a squirrel found in Morrison, which sits just west of Denver, tested positive for the bubonic plague Saturday.

Officials have warned that if "proper precautions" are not taken it could be contracted by household animals and even humans.
County officials suggest keeping pets inside so they don't go out and contract the disease from wild animals. It can be contracted by humans if they are bitten by infected fleas or come in direct contact with infected animals.
Just when you think 2020 couldn't get any crazier.
