Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer faced backlash on social media over a Father’s Day post. The New York Democrat shared a photo of his backyard grill, which he later deleted.
"Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years," Schumer posted on X. "But my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard. For the first time, we’re having a barbeque with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill! Father’s Day Heaven!"
Conservatives quickly criticized the post, accusing him of improper grilling techniques. They pointed out that he placed cheese on a burger patty too early.
"Chuck is making an E. coli with cheese," tweeted Michael Duncan, a partner at Cavalry.
"You put cheese on a raw patty," posted "Nuance Bro," a popular conservative account. "Y’all are so bad at pretending to be normal human beings."
Donald Trump Jr. also chimed in, tweeting, "I get that you’re playing to the masses but literally no one puts cheese on a raw beef patty. If you need help learning how to do basic grilling stuff, let me know. Nice try relating though. Fuc$&?g communists!!!"
Schumer deleted the post after it was heavily criticized by conservative accounts. It had been "ratioed" with negative responses.
"Chuck Schumer just deleted this post where he got insanely ratioed for not knowing how to make a cheeseburger," LibsofTikTok posted on X.
"Democrats try to be relatable without being super cringe challenge: IMPOSSIBLE," another account mocked.
Fox News Digital reached out to Schumer's office for comment but received no response.
Despite the grilling controversy, Schumer posted another message saying, "Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!" This post remains on social media.
