Buc-ee's may soon be heading to Oklahoma. Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt announced Tuesday that the city is in "very active conversations" with the Texas-based chain.
The proposed site sits at Interstate 40 and Cimarron Road in west Oklahoma City. It would be the first Buc-ee's in the entire state.

Moving Forward
The project took a concrete step this week. Holt said the City Council approved an agreement with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the development company tied to Buc-ee's.
That partnership will cover the new infrastructure needed to support the massive travel center. No construction or opening date has been announced yet.
Holt acknowledged there's still work ahead but said the city looks forward to welcoming Buc-ee's.
Oklahomans Are Ready
Locals wasted no time celebrating in the comments of Holt's post. One joked about needing to start a beef jerky savings account.
Another admitted the chain's famous brisket sandwiches might be their downfall.
Fox News Digital reached out to Buc-ee's for confirmation and details on timing.
Red States Rolling Out the Welcome Mat
The Oklahoma talks fit a clear pattern. Buc-ee's co-founder and president Arch "Beaver" Aplin III has made it plain that a friendly business climate shapes where the company builds.
At the August opening of the chain's first Arkansas store in Benton, Aplin praised conservative, business-friendly states with strong workforces. He said those places make a real difference.
He also said life is too short to build where people don't appreciate what you bring. Buc-ee's would rather invest in communities that actually want it.
A Texas Icon Goes National
Founded in 1982, Buc-ee's is known for its sprawling stores, brisket sandwiches, and famously clean restrooms. It has grown well beyond its Texas roots in recent years.
The company also offers strong career paths, with store managers able to earn up to $275,000 without a college degree.
What's Next
Buc-ee's website lists several upcoming openings for 2027. Ruston, Louisiana, and Kansas City, Kansas, are set to be the chain's first locations in those states.
Other 2027 sites include Gallaway, Tennessee; St. Lucie, Florida; Boerne, Texas; and Monroe County, Georgia. Mebane, North Carolina, and Lafayette, Louisiana, are slated for 2028, with Mebane marking the chain's North Carolina debut.
Oklahoma City isn't on the official list yet, and Buc-ee's notes all opening dates are subject to change.
