Kelly's idea was sparked by an article in the New York Post that featured Hannah, a women's cycling champion who decided to quit the sport after being defeated by a transgender athlete. Shortly after her decision, another biological male, Tiffany Thomas, won a women's race in New York and described feeling like a "superhero."
“I am begging – begging – any college male tennis player to put an end to this farce by declaring yourself trans & playing/easily winning women’s pro tennis tournaments,” Kelly tweeted Thursday. “All it will take is one biological male to win women’s Wimbledon, French Open, etc for this disgrace to end.”

It could be argued that Kelly's proposal implies that female swimmers and cyclists are facing career setbacks from male competitors because their sports lack the same level of celebrity status and financial incentives that would generate meaningful opposition to the transgender movement.
Even those who don't typically follow tennis make a point to watch the Wimbledon matches on BBC TV, with tens of millions of viewers tuning in from around the world.
It would be impossible to conceal such a blatant difference in strength, and it is probable that the sport's supporters would react strongly against it.
As an American cyclist participating in lesser-known races, it is simple to be marginalized and intimidated by other participants.
“I have decided to end my cycling career,” Arensman announced last Wednesday. “At my last race at the recent UCI Cyclocross National Championships in the elite women’s category, I came in 4th place, flanked on either side by male riders awarded 3rd and 5th places.”
“My sister and family sobbed as they watched a man finish in front of me, having witnessed several physical interactions with him throughout the race,” her statement said.
