Newly released bodycam footage shows Tony Romo questioning police during his July 23 operating while intoxicated arrest in Wisconsin. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback said he was coming from a golf course, insisted he had consumed “zero” drinks and asked to call his attorney.
Romo told the officer, “Because I'm coming from a golf course, you think I'm drunk?” when asked to step out of the vehicle. Police then detained him and took him to a nearby station for field sobriety tests.
The arresting officer said she noticed red, glassy eyes and smelled alcohol coming from Romo. After the sobriety tests, Romo refused to take a breath test, saying, “I've heard from all the lawyers don't ever do that”.

Romo was cited for first-offense operating while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a chemical test. He was released and is due in court on Sept. 21.
He had been stopped on an interstate after playing in the Wisconsin Amateur Golf Championship in West Bend. He had also been scheduled to appear at the M&P Group Texas State Open, but he withdrew over the weekend.
CBS did not immediately respond to requests for comment after the arrest was first reported. Romo retired from football in 2017 and later became a color commentator for the network.
