Actor Ben Stiller faced mixed reactions online after endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. He praised her for bringing "change" to the Democratic Party.
"Just very excited about moving forward and all the energy and excitement that's around this movement right now," Stiller said in a viral video interview. "That's why I'm here, because it's time for change, and it seems like it's happening."
Stiller, along with other Hollywood stars like George Clooney, has thrown his support behind Harris as the next Democratic presidential nominee.
When asked if Harris could maintain her momentum post-DNC, Stiller confidently said she would.
"For sure," he said, noting the election will be "close but everyone's motivated to work and make it happen."
"And she and Tim Walz are just incredible candidates," Stiller added.
The video, posted by journalist Nicholas A. Ballasy, quickly spread online, drawing criticism from some commentators.
"Actor Ben Stiller says he’s voting for Vice President [Harris] because it’s time for ‘change,'" Ballasy wrote.
"It is unbelievable. [Stiller] is voting for [Harris] because he wants a change from the current administration," wrote Canadian professor Gad Saad. "A parasitized mind facing a terminal illness of the capacity for human reason."
"There will be no change," Donald Trump Jr. tweeted. "It’s literally the Biden-Harris administration right now. Why didn’t she push for any change for the last 4 years???"
Hollywood's support has been pivotal for Harris, who rose from Biden's running mate to the top of the Democratic ticket.
Clooney, in a July op-ed, urged Biden to step aside for Harris and later backed her after Biden exited the race.
"President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He’s saving democracy once again," Clooney said to CNN's Jake Tapper. "We’re all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest."
