Ben Affleck Makes Admission About McDonald's Eating Habits During Game Show

Ben Affleck brought more than star power to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He also brought a surprising amount of fast-food knowledge, and it helped carry the game along during the season 5 premiere on ABC.

Affleck teamed up with Jeopardy! champion Jamie Ding for a shot at $1 million for the Eastern Congo Initiative. Host Jimmy Kimmel joked through the hour, while the pair leaned on each other and even wore matching bracelets in Ding’s lucky orange.

The first big food question asked which McDonald’s sandwich is served with half a slice of cheese unless you ask for more. Affleck said he eats a lot of McDonald’s, and the pair settled on Filet-O-Fish with help from the audience.

That answer was correct and moved them to $32,000. Affleck later admitted he had been thinking along the same lines, and Ding agreed.

The bigger test came with the $250,000 question about the annual Spanish festival El Colacho. The possible answers were hot coals, stacks of money, babies and hats, and Affleck said he had looked up Spanish customs ahead of time.

He even joked that his research was a tip to Matt Damon, nodding to the longtime back-and-forth between Damon and Kimmel. After some suspense, the pair landed on babies, which turned out to be the right answer.

The episode also had its usual blend of humor and friendly competition. Kimmel kept poking fun at Affleck and Damon, while Affleck joked that he was riding Ding’s coattails and that they were “the Wonder Twins.”

The night ended before the final two questions were revealed, so viewers will have to wait for the next episode on July 29. Other celebrity teams this season include Larry David and Cazzie David, along with several other high-profile contestants.
