On Thursday Senator Amy Klobuchar announced she is removing herself from consideration to be Joe Biden's vice presidential pick.
While speaking with Lawrence O'Donnell of MSNBC, Klobuchar said she called Joe Biden with her decision Wednesday evening and told him she believes “this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket."

Earlier this year Biden promised to pick a woman as a running mate. There are about a half dozen women in the running including several of color.
“After what I’ve seen in my state and what I’ve seen across the country, this is a historic moment and America must seize on this moment,” she said, per MSNBC. “There are so many incredibly qualified women. But if you want to heal this nation right now -- my party, yes, but our nation -- this sure is a hell of a way to do it. And that’s just what I think after being through this in my state."
Biden addressed Klobuchar on Twitter, responding to a tweet from The New York Times.

Joe Biden has said he will choose a VP candidate by August 1.
