Actor Michael Rapaport unleashed a fiery rant against California Gov. Gavin Newsom, declaring, “There’s no more mistakes for you, you’re done!” The outspoken actor shared his thoughts in a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday.
Rapaport criticized Newsom, whom he mockingly called “Gavin with the good hair,” for focusing on “Trump-proofing” California instead of “fire-proofing” it. The "Only Murders in the Building" star didn’t hold back. “Trump this, Trump that. He’s not even president,” he said, as wildfires in Southern California continued to wreak havoc, burning thousands of homes.
While Rapaport has criticized Trump in the past, his frustration extended to Vice President Kamala Harris, stating she had lost his vote in the 2024 election because of her stance on Israel. Newsom, however, took the brunt of his anger. “Get the f--- out of here!” Rapaport shouted. “‘We’ll do better next time?’ There’s no more mistakes for you, you’re done!”
He didn’t stop there, mocking Newsom further. “You’re not running for sixth-grade class president,” he joked. Referring to the governor as “Nancy’s nephew,” a nod to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rapaport added, “Them days are over.”
“What a good old boy you turned out to be, you little bulls--- artist,” he concluded. His remarks highlighted the growing frustration among some Californians over the state’s handling of the fires.
Rapaport wasn’t alone. Mark Wahlberg’s wife, Rhea Durham, also criticized Newsom. She posted a now-deleted Instagram photo showing the governor laughing at the Palisades Fire base camp in Malibu. “Why is the Governor of C.A standing around laughing like he’s at a tailgate???” she wrote.
Newsom’s team responded to the backlash. “Anyone who’s been through a tragedy knows there are lighthearted moments and moments of sorrow,” said Izzy Gardon, Newsom’s director of communications. The governor, she insisted, had been actively meeting with firefighters, first responders, and victims.
The fires, which began last Tuesday, have drawn sharp criticism from celebrities, including actress Patricia Heaton. Many have accused officials of inadequate preparation and response. Gardon countered, stating, “The Governor is focused on protecting people, not playing politics, and making sure firefighters have all the resources they need.”
