The New York Post reported that, with a $1 discount coupon for the orange juice, Kevin's total expenditure came to $19.83.
Lyons calculated the present-day cost of each item on Kevin McCallister's grocery list in the United States. He found that the total would now amount to $63.73 before tax, as reported by the outlet. With the inclusion of the coupon, the final total reaches approximately $68, representing a 248% increase from the prices 30 years ago.

TV dinner: couldn’t find the same one, so we did $5 for that one because it had the food inside,” Lyons said. “$13.00 for the Tide. $3.00 for the Wonder Bread. $3.50 for the frozen mac. $4.60 for the milk.
