'The View' Host Confronts John Fetterman on Shutdown Stance

Liberal talk show host Sunny Hostin went after Democratic Sen. John Fetterman on The View Tuesday — and it wasn’t pretty.

Hostin accused Fetterman of “bringing a butter knife to a gunfight” for voting to end the government shutdown, echoing complaints from Bernie Sanders and California’s Gavin Newsom that Democrats caved.

“As you mentioned, Democrats had big wins last week, so you had momentum,” Hostin said. “Why give in now? Why bring a butter knife to a gunfight?”

Fetterman — one of eight Democrats who joined Republicans to reopen the government — fired back, mocking his critics and calling Marjorie Taylor Greene “crazy pants.”

“MTG is quite literally the last person in America that I’m going to take advice from,” Fetterman shot back. “Now, if Democrats are celebrating crazy pants like that, that’s on them.”

Fetterman also dismissed Sanders and Newsom, saying they represent “very deep-blue populations.”

But his move didn’t sit well with the Left. Progressives are furious that Democrats folded without getting their way on Obamacare subsidies. Hostin even declared that Senate leader Chuck Schumer’s “days are over.”

Fetterman, meanwhile, doubled down, insisting the shutdown was wrong and saying he refused to “weaponize SNAP benefits” or withhold pay from the military and union workers.

“I’m choosing my country over my party,” he said on social media earlier in the shutdown.

Hostin wasn’t convinced — and neither were most Democrats. What’s clear is that Fetterman’s relationship with his own party is unraveling fast.

When even The View is grilling Democrats for weakness, you know Trump’s pressure is working.
